The Amelia paid Tribute Honoring the Life of Harley Earl, GM's 1st Head of Design which would later become GM's Art and Colour Section. He is considered the originator of the "Concept Car" in this case the 1939 Buick Y-Job of which he used as his Daily Driver. In 1951 he Created the Buick LeSabra Concept Car, once again to be used as his Personal Car. He was the creator of America's first production Sports Car which began Life as the "Opel" later becoming the Corvette. Harley Earl would forever change the World of Automobile Design

The Chevrolet Corvair Concept Car was part of Corvette's early development. The Corvair had a Fixed Roof. Another version of the first production Corvette was the Waldorf Nomad Wagon, of which was a Sports Station Wagon. Unfortunately the Waldorf Wagon no longer exist, although there are plenty of Interesting Stories and Theory's disputing it's Destruction / Disappearance

This is a One-Off 1956 Buick. It is the Buick Century X,. This Custom Buick was built for Bill Mitchell for use as his Personal Car. Bill Mitchell was Hand Picked by Harley Earl to succeed him when Earl retired in 1958.  Mitchell joined the Art and Colour Section of GM in 1935. He would continue Harley Earl's Legacy by Designing some of the Most Beautiful Cars ever built by General Motors
 This 1956 Corvette SR-2  was part of  Chevrolet's decision's to "Go  Racing"

This Bill Mitchell Custom Corvette (upper right and below) is based on a 1963 Corvette.  I saw this Car at the Bloomington Illinois Corvette Show back in the late 70's, maybe the early 80's. A friend of mine Actually Owned a Bill Mitchell Coupe version of this Car for a while before selling it. Unfortunately that was before I met him so I "Sadly Never Got to Go"  for a Ride in it...

While we are on One of my Favorite Subjects, "Corvette", here are a few more Corvette photo's from the Show. GM constructed a small Showroom and Display Platform right there on the Golf Course - Quite Impressive I must add. The New Mid-Engine Corvette also looks Impressive

GM was Proudly displaying some of there Past Design and Concept cars outside their 2020 Corvette Showroom. These Cars didn't excite me much when they were New and Sadly they Still Don't...      "Personally I still Prefer Chrome Bumpers, Big Blocks and Sidepipes"
