Yes, the Red Speedster in the websites header and plastered throughout the site's pages belongs to me.  I have owned my Auburn 866 Speedster since November 2000. I purchased the car in California and had it shipped home. My car was produced by Glenn Pray's Auburn Cord Duesenberg Company in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in the seventies. The car is painted a Corvette Mili Miglia Red with a Saddle leather interior. When I purchased the car the original lacquer paint was showing it's age in places. The overall condition of the paint was too nice to require a total repaint, so I elected to disassemble the car and only paint what was needed. While apart I decide to replace all of the body welting and cleanup up the chassis and detail the under hood area. The dash board, gauges and gauge layout was reworked to more replicate an original 851/852 Speedster. The radio and heater controls were relocated out of sight to keep things looking old and simple. The original leather was still good, but I did replace the carpet after reshaping the transmission tunnel. The convertible top and chrome are original and both are still very nice. I feel that a certain amount of aging adds a desired patina to the car.

Won't be long now...

The odometer was showing low miles when I purchased it, but due to it's age I went through the suspension and brakes, replaced all of the bolt on mechanicals along with new tires, hoses and belts. The engine and transmission needed no work, just fluid and filter replacements. Reliability was my goal. I wanted a car that could be driven when ever and where ever I wanted to take it. My Auburn has made the annual road trip to Auburn, Indiana, since 2002, to participate in the ACD Club's National Meet held each Labor Day weekend. In 2005 the car and myself survived a 1600 mile round trip to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for Glenn Pray's Open House. It's not the most comfortable car that I have ever owned but who cares... the car has that rolling sculptured look that  everyone seems to appreciate.  It is the look that I fell in love with over 30 years ago.
