Harley Earl was the man responsible for creating the Corvette. Zora Arkus-Duntov was the Engineer responsible for Power that made the Corvette the Car to Own and Beat. Zora started working for Chevrolet in 1953. In 1955 he pushed for the, then New, V8 engine to be installed in the Corvette. Zora was Corvettes first Chief Engineer. He retired in January 1975. Zora and his wife Elfi spent the rest of their lives as Ambassadors for the Corvette. Both Zora and Elfi are buried in the Museum.

By the early 1960's Harley Earl's Corvette was an American Success Story with the help of Corvette's Chief Engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov. Harley Earl's hand picked successor, Bill Mitchell was given the assignment to design a New Corvette. 1963 gave birth to the Beautiful Corvette "Stingray". Two body styles were now available, the traditional convertible and the "Split Window Coupe". The new 1963 Stingray was hot and in demand. Corvette production originally began in Flint, Michigan. It was moved a year later to a larger plant in St. Louis, Missouri.  As demand continued to grow, Corvette manufacturing out grew the St. Louis plant.  In 1981 General Motors moved Corvette production to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bowling Green is now known as The Heart of Corvette Country

Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell were responsible for most all of the Famed Concept Cars that came from General Motors. It started with Earls 1950 Buick Y Job, the Auto Industry's original "Dream Car". Bill Mitchell's talents were first recognized with his 1938 Cadillac 60 Special design. Their love of cars went much deeper than just designs on paper. Both men were avid  racing and driving enthusiast
