The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky is always a "Must Stop" whenever I am traveling on I-65 between Louisville., Ky. and Nashville., Tn. The Museum has changing exhibits to keep it interesting and there is always the Special Collection Room that has rotating Collections. When we were there, the Museum was getting ready for their upcoming Kustom Kars & Corvettes: The Art and influence of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. It is scheduled to run January 2020 through December 2020. The History of Corvette Racing display was being updated and is scheduled to reopen Spring 2020 with a New Look. The Cut-a-Way 1953 Corvette, shown above and below, was parked right outside the main entrance to the Museum exhibits. It is Chassis #003, the Oldest Surviving Corvette Chassis. The Craftsmanship that went into building this car is Top Shelf, it is Really Worth seeing. I believe it was built by Kevin MacKay owner of Corvette Repair in Valley Stream, New York

The Corvette was unveiled on January 17, 1953 at the GM Motorama Show that was being held in New York city at the Waldorf-Astoria. It was an immediate success as far as the public falling in love with it. Orders were taken at the show but with a Price tag of nearly $3500 it was expensive and being "under" powered by an inline 6 Cylinder engine did not help. Production began in that summer. Only 300 cars were built for 1953 with half of them being carried over to into 1954. By 1955 Zora-Duntov was in charge of the Corvette and a V8 engine was offered. Zora deservingly became known as the Father of the Corvette. From there Corvettes reputation and accomplishments grew to the Super Car that it is today

The Museum, as it should, pays Much Deserved Tributes to those who were Responsible for the Success of the Corvette. Men like Harley Earl, Bill Mitchell, Zora Arkus-Duntov, Larry Shinoda, Dave McClellan, Dave Hill and the many Drivers who Won Races with the Corvette

The Corvette Design and Engineering exhibits are well done. They are very detailed. I have heard that GM
has been known to plant Teasers for Future Corvette models within these displays... Take it All in while your there

"Zora Arkus-Duntov arrived at GM in May 1953, he had an agenda: to make the Corvette the performer he knew it could be. Arkus-Duntov first saw the Corvette at the 1953 Motorama in New York City, and it so inspired him that he wrote a letter to Ed Cole, sharing his desire to work on the car. His vision, energy and determination shaped the early years of the Corvette legend, and that spirit continues to drive the destiny of the sport coupe even today"              Read more about Zora Arkus-Duntov
