The Service Department displays much of the original service equipment that was found on the 2nd floor of the building. There is a recreation of the Parts Department displaying Packard parts and accessories. The automobile service elevator, found in the Service area, still operates to the above levels, although they are not part of the exhibit. At that time, a dealer’s automobile inventory was not prominently displayed outside on the property as it is today. Inventories were much smaller and were kept inside the building. Cars were brought down to the Service area via the elevator for a customers test drive.
Brass era cars from the early 1900’s, Classics from the ‘30’s and ‘40’s and Modern Packard’s from the 1950’s are displayed throughout the facility. The 40-50 cars rotate in and out, so there is always something fresh to see. The Museum has a great collection of original Packard artifacts and memorabilia including parts, accessories, service equipment, sales catalogs and advertising and along with styling cars from the design department.
