"Fins - Form without Function" was the theme of the temporary exhibit that was taking place at The Petersen Automotive Museum. The exhibit does an excellent job of explaining America's Fascination with Wings, Fins and Speed following World War II. "Fins" runs through February 2014

One area of the Museum has a recreated automobile design studio with models, modeling tools and sketches. If you look close at some of the artist renderings and the clay model you may recognize the car from the the 1937 movie "Topper". The Topper car was originally written into the script as a Cord. The Auburn Automobile Company was still producing Auburn's, Cord's and Duesenberg's at that time. When the movie finally received the go a head to start production, E.L Cord was no longer in the automobile business, so the decision was made to purchase a new Buick and contract Bohman & Schwartz to make the necessary custom changes to recreate the look of the 1936 - '37 Cord. I never understood why they went to all of this trouble and expense when the purchase of a used Cord would seem to have been a far less expensive option

I know  that Johnny Rockets is a chain restaurant but who could resist a Double Burger, Rings and a Shake with your "Best Girl" when the place looks this Cool and it's located in the Peterson Museum... I certainly couldn't. The Booths have the Remote Juke Box Selectors so besides impressing her with my Menu Knowledge I was able to set the mood by playing all of those oldies for a only a Nickel per play
