The Tucker Motor Car Exhibit

The Antique Automobile Club of America Museum opened it's new and permanent exhibit that Celebrates the Legacy of Preston Tuckers "Car of Tomorrow - Today". This extensive display of Tucker 48 automobiles, engines, mechanicals and Tucker auto-mobilia was made possible by Mr. David Cammack and his Rare Collection of Tucker Automobiles (he owns 3 of them), a factory test chassis, engines, factory parts along with thousands of engineering drawings. He currently owns Tucker no.1001, the 1st production proto-type, no.1022 and no. 1026 which is the only Tucker built with an automatic transmission. A total of 51 Tuckers were built (by hand) with 47 of them known to still exist. This exhibit encompasses 5200 square feet within the AACA Museum. The new exhibit has been fully endorsed by the descendents of Preston Tucker

"The Car of Tomorrow" - the Tucker 48, Preston Tuckers Remarkable and sometimes Controversial New Car was to change automobile design and function forever with Safety being foremost. Sadly, not everything went as Preston Tucker had planned, lack of money, engineering flaws and constant accusation's of fraud along with associated courtroom appearances  hindered production and made for a next to impossible smooth launch of his dream

On display is a Tucker chassis and one from a Cadillac of the same era for comparisons. As you would imagine there are plenty of differences in design with the Tucker being much more advanced. Several Tucker engines and transmissions are exhibited

As if the Tucker cars, chassis' and mechanical components aren't enough there is a recreated Tucker Dealership Salesroom which has an extensive display of original parts and Tucker-mobilia

As we entered the Museum I could not help but to notice a Brand Spanking New Dodge Challenger parked in the lobby. I like the New Retro-Styled Challengers a lot, but I did not know why one was being so proudly displayed in the lobby of an Antique Car Museum. Duh... I was so anticipating seeing the Tucker exhibit that I did not realize that there was also a temporary exhibit honoring "100 Years of Dodge". A lot of Nice Dodge automobiles were collected for display, many more than pictured here, but I was not smart enough to carry in a spare camera battery... Duh again
