The Saturday morning Gathering of Classics in Eckhart Park starts early for the Exhibitors and the Judges. The 810 and 812 Cord entries are always numerous and very - very impressive. The Judges always have their work cut out for them

The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club along with the Antique Automobile Club of America have, for the past several years, recognize and offer Classes for the Second Generation Cars. The number of cars being displayed in this class were down this year. Actually the entire Saturday morning Show seemed a little smaller than past years, but I cannot start preaching about "Driving Our Cars" and "Promoting the Hobby" when my car was at home doing nothing when it should have been with me, in Auburn. For what it's worth I was looking for parts in the Swap Meet Thursday, Friday and Saturday and with the Auburn I just can't drag too many Treasures back with me... No wonder "The Wife" is always encouraging me to Drive the Auburn to shows, and I always thought she was just concerned about me "Having Fun"... Hmmm

This Gorgeous Cord 815 SE is just 1 of 8 that were produced by Southeastern Replicars (SER) in 1981. The Current owner is Gerald Manning. Gerald's Cord drew a lot of admiring attention throughout the weekend. Dave Samuel's was the visionary behind the Model 815 SE Cord. He was owner of Southeastern Replicars Inc. which was located in Largo, Florida. Dave, at that time was operating an established restoration shop and had already experienced success with his 1935 Auburn Speedster recreations. Building a High End Cord Replica was a Dream of his.  The only body style to be offered was the 4 place Phaeton. They were Full Size Recreations and were Powered by a Front Wheel Drive 350 Oldsmobile Drive Line. The 80's Economy, with it's Skyrocketing Interest Rates and the Cords Whopping $65K price tag no doubt contributed to it's very low production thus leading to their fast demise

Gerald's passion for his Second Generation Cord does not stop with just owning it. He has an informational website devoted to the 815 SE's.
