Greeting you as you enter the Corvette Museum is the 1968 Astro - Vette Concept Car. The National Corvette Museum celebrated it's 15th Anniversary in September 2009. Earlier this year the Museum completed it's 46,000 square foot expansion. The idea for a Corvette Museum began in 1987 with the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). They had a need for a Corvette Library and Archives. Dan Gail headed a volunteer group of enthusiasts that planned the Museum and started raising money. Seven years and $15,000,000 later the Dream was fulfilled, the National Corvette Museum (NCM) opened.  Today NCM memberships help support and fund the Museum. Membership is 35,000 strong. If you love the Corvette you really should consider a joining the NCM. I am a Founding Member myself.   Visit www.corvettemuseum.com for membership and Museum information

There would not be a Corvette or a Corvette Museum If it weren't for men like Designer and Visionary Harley Earl. Earl was operating a Customizing Shop in Hollywood, California building cars for the Rich and Famous before being recruited by General Motors. Harley J. Earl, then Vice President of General Motors, was returning from the races at Watkins Glen in September 1951. Inspired by the sports cars that were being raced he had a vision of building an American Sports Car. In less than two years the Corvette was introduced to the world at the 1953 GM Motorama held at New York's Waldorf Astoria. The public and dealers loved it, new car orders were taken and the rest is history. Over a 1,000,000 of America's Sports Cars have been sold

The Museum tells the story of the Corvette and America's Love Affair with the Corvette through the use of Beautifully Detailed Exhibits and Displays. Most of the cars used in the displays do rotate in and out over time
