As many California Custom Coach Auburn
Speedsters that I have seen advertised and as many articles that
have appeared over the years featuring California Custom Coach (CCC)
cars, I have very little information on the CCC company. If anyone
has a comprehensive history of the company or it's owners please
send it to me. I will be glad to write it up and share it on this
page of the web-site.
This is about all that I know about CCC inc... The Company was started
by Cecil Gold and Ray Oja from Burbank, California in 1976. CCC inc. was located in Pasadena, California. The build tags found
on their Auburns state that CCC inc. is a subsidiary of the Auburn
Speedster Company. CCC offered the Auburn 876 Speedsters and the 876
Phaeton, a four place Boattail Auburn. The Auburn bodies were
fiberglass. The recommended chassis' was that of a full size Ford.
The chassis had to be lengthened to accommodate the 127" Auburn
wheelbase. The basic 876 Speedster kits were
priced, starting, at $6995.
CCC later went on to offer a very successful Ferrari Daytona Spyder
replicar and built four door stretch Corvette conversions from the
1978 / 1979 body styles. The Corvette America, as it was called, was
a really nice car.
According to an article in the December 22nd 1978 issue of AutoWeek, CCC
stopped offering kits of the 876 in January of 1979. Only Factory
built cars would be available. They would be priced at $37,500 for
the Speedster and $42,500 for the Phaeton Speedster. CCC was operating out of a restored Packard dealership located
on 1285 E. Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. By that time, It was
estimated that CCC had already sold over 250 Auburns.
Sometime in the mid-eighties, some of the California Custom Coach Auburn molds
were made available to Repli-Classics. Repli-Classics was located in
Clearwater, Florida. I think they were affiliated with Southeastern
/ Northeastern Replicars out of Florida in some way. I have seen Auburn
Speedster advertising from CCC as
late as 1984, I do not know when they stopped building their
Speedsters. Obviously there had to be several sets of CCC
molds used in the business, because I have seen CCC Auburn molds
offered for sale in 2003 and again in 2006 by a someone in Canton,
Ohio, along with molds for the CCC Ferrari. There was a Los Angeles,
California guy on ebay
that was offering Auburn Speedster replacement parts claiming
that they are produced from original CCC molds.
I have saved many old ads for the CCC Auburn Speedster, but in
general they only show their kit pricing and company mailing addresses. I
know that there is a lot more information about California Custom
Coach and the Auburn Speedster Co. worth printing, but I do not have
it available. If you have any information that you would like to share,
please send it my way. Thanks!

California Custom
Coach - The Tradition Continues
California Custom Coach,
creator of the Auburn 876 Speedster, built turn key cars and offered kits
in the 1970's and 80's. They were located in the Pasadena, California
area. During that time a young man living in Geneva, Switzerland, Alex
Christodulidis, was quite taken by the California Custom Coach 876
Speedsters Classic Car styling and the modern conveniences that were
being built into them. He dreamed of someday owning an 876 Auburn
Speedster, but he never dreamed of one day owning the Company.
Fast Forward to 2010, Alex would learn that the California Custom Coach
company, with it's patterns, molds, hundreds of blue prints and a large
inventory of unused parts was being offered for sale. He did not hesitate,
he bought all of it and immediately started his plan to put the his dream
car back into production.
The tradition continues,
but now in North Texas. California Custom Coach (CCC) is back. They are
again offering factory built Speedsters and parts for owners of existing
876 Auburns.
From recent conversations with the new owners I can tell that they are
excited and very enthusiastic with the companies start up. Their goal is
to offer a world class automobile. You can read more about the New
California Custom Coach company and their New Auburn at
